Japan is now one of the partners having the most bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements with Vietnam. Japan has been designated as a major partner in investment and commercial cooperation, as well as cultural interaction, with Phu Tho. That good cooperation partnership is being more cemented and developed, becoming more meaningful and substantive.
Teijin Frontier Shonai Co., Ltd. in Van Co ward (Viet Tri city) was founded in 2001 with 100% Japanese investment and is a recognized firm in the field of garment manufacture and processing. With approximately 1,000 employees, the company’s total manufacturing output in the first nine months of the year exceeded 234,000 goods; export value exceeded USD5 million.
Businesses have taken efforts to increase worker quality in addition to contributing to the State budget. Workers and employees are not only taught in their areas of knowledge and talents, but they are also given precise instructions on how to work.
Mr. Hamada Ryuji, Chairman, General Director of Teijin Frontier Shonai Co., Ltd., praised the province’s investment environment, saying, "Phu Tho has a favorable location, security, and political stability, so it is popular with many businesses in foreign countries where Japan’s investment options are chosen. Teijin Frontier Shonai Co., Ltd. is one of the Japanese companies engaging in production and business in the province, providing permanent employment for many locals.
Currently, the province has seven Japanese investment projects with a total registered capital of around USD34 million, focused on fields such as wood processing, textiles, and footwear. The largest FDI project is Matsuoka Phu Tho Co., Ltd.’s garment factory complex in Phu Ha Industrial Park, a part of the Matsuoka Group, with a total investment of USD25 million, providing jobs for over 2,000 local workers.
Phu Tho actively promotes socioeconomic development as well as bilateral collaboration with Japanese municipalities. Since establishing friendly cooperative relations in 2014, the provinces of Phu Tho and Nara have actively implemented exchange activities, strengthened friendly relations, and expanded economic and promotional cooperation in the fields of education, training, and culture.
Phu Tho has drawn an increasing number of Japanese investors from the early days of collaboration, thanks to the attention of the leaders of the two provinces. Based on the good traditional relationship that has existed between the two sides, the working delegation of Phu Tho province successfully organized the Investment Promotion Conference in Tokyo - Japan in April 2018, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Japan Trade Promotion Agency (JETRO).
During the Phu Tho province delegation’s working visit to Nara province in Japan in September, leaders from the two provinces exchanged and shared many development experiences in various fields, while continuing to integrate Extremely promote practical and highly effective friendly and cooperative relations.
