The Association of Vietnamese in France (Union Générale des Vietnamiens de France - UGVF) organised a meeting in Paris on May 4, to mark the 50th anniversary of the April 30, 1975 Victory.

Overseas Vietnamese in France look towards homeland |
The event provided an opportunity to commemorate the years of tireless struggle for national independence, freedom, and reunification, and to recall the overwhelming joy felt upon hearing the news of the South’s liberation and the country’s reunification.
The gathering served as a tribute to the overseas Vietnamese who wholeheartedly contributed to the nation’s reunification in 1975.
The April 30, 1975, Victory —an illustrious milestone in the resistance war against the US —was the result of the collective efforts of the entire Vietnamese people, including the Vietnamese community in France.

The UGVF President emphasised that the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification is of profound significance for generations of overseas Vietnamese in France.

Guided by a spirit of unity, deep ties to their homeland, and a shared ideal of national independence, freedom, and reunification, generations of Vietnamese in France have consistently stood alongside their compatriots at home in the national struggle.
Since the country’s reunification, the UGVF has worked to foster cohesion among its members, building a strong, united, and well-integrated community. The union remains committed to preserving national traditions, strengthening links with the homeland, and acting as a cultural bridge between France and Viet Nam.
UGVF President Vuong Huu Nhan noted that 30 April 2025 marks 50 years of Vietnam’s development in peace. The Union firmly believes in the dawn of a new era for a modern, democratic, and prosperous Viet Nam.

Despite evolving under different forms and names, the overseas Vietnamese movement in France has consistently upheld its unwavering ideals, deep-rooted patriotism, and enduring dedication to the cause of national independence, reunification, and the defence and development of the homeland.
In recognition of its significant contributions to the national liberation movement, the Association of Vietnamese in France was honoured with the First-Class Independence Order by the Party and State.
